Style On The Street: Button-Downs Don’t Have To Be Buttoned

Let’s take a minute to remember the ‘90s. Nirvana played on the radio, “Beverly Hills 90210” was on TV, and you wore huge flannel shirts to school, sometimes with a kick-ass concert tee underneath. We’re not in the ‘90s anymore, so this gal classed...

from: How Sunglasses Work

Most of us, when we hit the store or boutique and reach fo those sunglasses, do not really think on how the sunglasses should work for us in exchange of those bucks, but rather, get it, place it to the eyes and look at the mirror. If it looks good, then buy it. If it costs much, then more people gets to buy it.

This is the common scenario when buying sunglasses.

Is a ten-dollar sunglasses as affective as hundred-dollar sunglasses? Does price constitute effectiveness? This is one of the biggest mistakes made by consumers. Th price or the brand does not spell the quality that you eally need. Your common sunglasses can provide the same protection provided by Gucci or any designer's sunglasses.

On top of fashion and shading your eyes from disguise or whatsoever, sunglasses do more that that. Here are few key things to think about when buying those sunglasses.

The right sunglasses could protect your eyes for years to come from harmful UV rays that could potentially cause macular degeneration and blindness.

Moreover, there are four things good sunglasses should do. First, sunglasses should provide protection from the harmful UV rays in sunlight. Second, it should provide protection from intense light. Third, provide glare protection. And lastly, eliminate specific frequencies of light.

Try to use polarized lenses, made of Polaroid polarized plastic sheet, to reduce glare caused by light reflected from polarizing surfaces such as water. Also choose sunglasses that have been coated with protection against the UV rays.

You want to select a pair of sunglasses that have a 99% or 100% UV protection. The UV protection is what keeps the harmful UV rays out and protect you eyes. UV rays can cause blindness and macular degeneration.

Most sunglasses provide these four in one item. The right sunglasses made with lenses with polarization, photo-chromatic lenses or anti-reflective coatings are a great place to start in protecting your eyes.

The biggest problem with some cheap sunglasses is the way the lenses are made. Many are made with ordinary tinted plastic that does not include the extra coatings and protections. If you are an outdoor enthusiast or you spend a lot of time driving in the daytime, it is important to buy sunglasses accordingly.

Polarized glasses protect from the glare of water, snow and asphalt. So you dont have to spend hundreds of dollars on the right sunglasses, but make sure you are getting what your eyes need to keep them safe and healthy.
