H&M Scores Lanvin Collab In What Is Probably The Biggest High-Low Coup Yet
The speculation and rumors have been confirmed. Lanvin will indeed be designing a collection for H&M, due in stores November 23. Although H&M wasn't planning on disclosing the answers to their mysterious designer interview videos, the interwebs went nuts after guessing that one video featured Lanvin designer Alber Elbaz, so the retailer released a clip revealing Elbaz's face. In the video, the he says, "When H&M approached us to do this collaboration, they asked if I could actually translate the dream that we created at Lanvin to a bigger audience. It wasn't a project about a dress for less ... I loved the idea that H&M is going luxury rather than Lanvin is going public." Interesting. Does that mean we can expect price points to be higher than normal for H&M?

Have you seen someone wearing sunglasses and saw that from outdoors, the lenses becomes clear when he left the sun? Magic? No it's not magic. This type of sunglasses is called photo-chromatic sunglasses.
The science behind photo-chromatic sunglasses can be a quite hard to understand, but the first step is to know what photo-chromatic sunglasses are.
Photo-chromatic sunglasses are prescription sunglasses that has been modified from having clear lenses to shaded sunglasses instantly when exposed to the sun then back again when inside. It is a reversible application commonly known as photochromism.
Photochromism is the reversible transformation of a chemical species between two forms by the absorption of radiation where the two forms have different absorption spectra. As previously stated, it is quite difficult to understand the science behind it. Though they are highly popular, the science is still slightly unstable and the color changing lenses found in eyeglasses can't withstand thousands of hours of outdoor exposure.
The changing speed from clear to shaded lenses is highly sensitive to the rigidity of the environment around the dye. Photo-chromatic lenses can be made of either glass or plastic. The glass version was developed around 1960 by the Corning Company. The plastic version is used more as it is more affordable. Transitions Optical introduced the first successful plastic photo-chromatic sunglass lens in 1991.
What makes them special is they do not change indoors under bright lights. It takes the UV that the sun provides to activate the chemicals that darken the lenses to shade and protect the eyes. Amazing isn't it?
Because photo-chromatic compounds fade back to a clear state by a thermal process, the higher the temperature, the less dark the lenses will become. It prevents the glasses from becoming true sunglasses in very hot temperatures.
Photo-chromatic sunglasses have proven its usability and this is the reason why it continues to have a captured high market demand in the society. So the next time you saw someone with fading sunglasses from dark to clear, now you know it’s not magic. Its photo-chromatic sunglasses!
