from: Guide To Buying Sunglasses
Being updated with the latest trend and selections in the fashion world is a must to most people, be it the celebrity or the infamous ones. Common product line includes bags, shoes and of course, the sunglasses.
Sunglasses have been used as visual aids against extreme brightness. At the same time, sunglasses have also been a traditional fashion statement, especially owning a designer item.
Everybody used to prefer designers' items when he has the money to buy it. Not only it defines quality but also as symbol of status quo and said to reflect the personality of the person wearing it. This made more celebrities to open new product lines (for those who have already lines or brand) or for the new ones, invest in making designers' items.
Clothing designers and celebrities alike have developed their own lines of sunglasses. Gucci, Fendi, Donna Karan, Vera Wang, and Tommy Hilfiger make some of today’s hottest sunglass designs while celebrity designers include Britney Spears, Joan Collins, Jerry Garcia and Donald Trump. Whatever you are looking for in sunglasses, you can be assured someone has designed it. You just have to be willing to pay the price.
Buying sunglasses should not only be based in fashion preference but on how one can utilize the shades, and who will be using it.
Purchasing sunglasses for your children is very important and should not be neglected. Children have sensitive eyes and over exposure to the sun can cause permanent damage and lead to macular degeneration when they get older.
But how would you choose your sunglasses?
Think of the utility
Bear in mind if for what purpose are you going to use it. Is it only for the noon time's high sun or for a beach surfing? If you spend a lot of time on the water, snow, or you spend a lot of time driving then it is best to choose a polarized lens. Polarization cuts out the light coming from the horizontal meridian while allowing light to come from the vertical. Basically it blocks reflections of light off water, snow and highways while reducing glare.
Check for the visibility and clarity.
Sunglasses can improve visual comfort and visual clarity by protecting the eye from glare. There are many varieties of sunglasses that can be used for several situations, and clears you from light distractions.
Ask if it passed industry standard.
The US standard is ANSI Z80.3-1972. According to the ANSI Z80.3-2001 standard, the compliable lens should have a UVB (280 to 315nm) transmittance of no more than one per cent and a UVA (315 to 380nm) transmittance of no more than 0.5 times of the visual light transmittance
The European standard is EN 1836:2005. The four ratings are 0 for insufficient UV protection, 1 for sufficient UV protection, 2 for good UV protection and 3 for full UV protection.
Check the price
While many people don’t realize it, price does not dictate function. Even sunglasses costing seven dollars have been known to have better UV protection than ones costing seventy. What you are looking for is a pair of sunglasses that have 100% UV protection. Sunglasses labeled polycarbonate have 100% absorption, and glasses marked CR-39R plastic are about 88% effective.
See if it looks good on you.
Look at the mirror if the style looks good on you. There are many sizes and styles available. You can choose for an oversized sunglasses or just the average one. Or what color do you prefer? You want something cute and comfortable and of course stylish.
Just don't forget. In buying whatever item use your wit and be a practical consumer with value for money.
